Try the following idea for ensuring that your child finds reading can be fun–from the first day of school onward.
- In the evening before the first day of school, label an envelope “Top Secret”. In it put a cartoon, fortune cookie fortune, greeting card, or special message* and place it in your child’s backpack or lunch box.
- Use the “Top Secret” envelope to give your child a reading boost now and then throughout the school year.
